Homestart Children’s Book Appeal
Monday 31st October – Friday 4th November
This year we would like to support Homestart in their fantastic Advent Book initiative.
Homestart work with families across Aberdeen and this Christmas they aim to give each family they work with, 24 books, 1 to open each day leading up to Christmas. So, we are looking for donations of
books in excellent condition which are suitable for 0-3 years only and wrapping paper
The wrapping paper is required so the books can be wrapped individually by Homestart according to the family they are being donated to.
All donations should be dropped off at Fernielea School from
Monday 31st October
and they will be delivered to Homestart on Friday 4 November.
Early Learning and Childcare Expansion Consultation – Survey Monkey Questionnaire
Aberdeen City Council is carrying out a statutory consultation exercise linked to the Scottish Government’s programme for the expansion of early learning and childcare. The Government’s intention is to expand the offer of funded early learning and childcare to 1140 hours per annum for some two year olds and all three and four year olds, whose parents want such a service by 2020.
It is important that we gather information from parents, carers and potential future parents regarding how best services could be provided. A series of consultation events have been organised to consider the Scottish Government’s programme of expansion of early learning and childcare entitlement. A survey monkey questionnaire has also been launched to gather as many views as possible.
We have undertaken a strategic review of existing services and options related to the delivery of expanded provision have been identified. We would be extremely grateful if you complete the survey monkey questionnaire by clicking on the link below and give us your views on how best expanded services might be delivered in your area.

The survey will be open until Friday 28th October 2016.
Please ensure you only complete one survey and thank you very much for taking the time to complete this questionnaire.
P7T have just finished performing their fabulous and informative Harvest assembly to parents and pupils. Thet told us how countries all over the world celebrate Harvest. They also sang about Harvest and recited a poem called “The Vegetable Fashion Show”. Some P3 children helped out too. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our school families in donating food items for Somebody Cares. Thank you.

We all got together and shared what we liked and what we didn’t like about our community, our playground and our school.
We worked with our learning partners from other classes to record what we thought. We will share this with you when we have collated all the information.
Parents will also have the chance to be involved during Parents’Evening on Thursday.
This year our Charities Committee is made up of P4-7 children. They have organised their yearly calendar and are ready to raise money for local and national charities. They have also been challenged to think of ways to help others in our community. Have a look at their blog to find out how much they aim to raise this year!
Today parents attended an Early Reading Workshop to find out more about reading and how they can support their child. This was chosen as our first parents workshop because a number of parents indicated that this is something they would like to know more about.
Feedback from parents was very positive.
