Den Day Fun at Fernielea

Today it was wet and windy but we still went ahead with the task of building dens to raise money for Save the Children.  Our children built the most fantastic dens and they all worked well together sharing ideas and having fun.

Sports Day 2016

We had a fantastic time at Sports Day today.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and took part in all activities demonstrating a great sporting attitude. Thank you to all who came along to support the pupils.  It makes all the difference. We have added photos below.

The winning house today was EDINBURGH with 900 points. The House captain and Vice captain of Edinburgh were very happy to receive the trophy.DSC03019

2nd place was Stirling with 785 points.

3rd place was Fraser with 780 points.

4th place was Crathes with 680 points.

Den Day 17th June

On Friday 17th June all children are going to be participating in Den Day. 


We will be going  out into the school grounds and building incredible dens with our classmates. 

Everyone is encouraged to wear casual clothes suitable for playing outdoors in all weathers.

A donation of £1.00 per child will be collected and this will be donated to Save the Children. 

We are asking for donations of blankets, sheets, cardboard boxes, ropes, pegs or anything else that could be used to create a den. Please drop items off at school before Friday 17th.

Sports Day P1-7

Sports Day for P1-7 is on Wednesday 8th at 1.15pm. Come along and cheer you child on. 

Children can dress in their house colours. 

Fraser – Green

Crathes – Yellow

Edinburgh – Blue

Stirling – Red

Fingers crossed for a sunny day – but remember to apply sun screen to your child and encourage them to wear a hat to protect them from the sun. 

Eco Day – Pond Dipping at the Burnie

Classes have been exploring the Burnie today with Country Ranger Jen as part of our Eco Day.  They went pond dipping and scavenging for items to create nature pictures.

P5 Sportshall Athletics

Today all of our P5s went to participate in the Sportshall Athletics at Hazlehead Primary School.  We had a fantastic time participating in hop skip and jump activities along with running activities. Thank you to Hazlehead for being fantastic hosts!

Scootability Workshops

Today we were trying out the new Scootability workshops with the P3s. It is training that will encourage them to be safe and considerate when scooting to school.
If they are successful we hope to deliver training to other age groups. 

Eco Day of Action

Tomorrow is our Eco Day of Action which will focus on water.  All of our classes will be participating in activities which help them understand more about water and its uses.

P3-P5 classes will be Pond Dipping at the Burnie with the Country Ranger – so remember your wellies and warm clothes!

P5/6-P7 will be working with Cordelia from SEPA who is taking along a huge floor board game called The Flood Game.

We will also be presenting the prize for the winning Water Safety leaflet in assembly tomorrow.  It was a competition for P3 -P7 pupils to design a leaflet to be distributed in the community focusing on being safe around water.  Will Burnish and Calum Clark, Aberdeen City Council Flood Engineers will be presenting the prize.
